I’ve always wanted a wood fly box that can hold its own with top notch modern boxes. A good fly box should be able to hold a lot of flies securely. It should stay closed when not in use and needs to withstand the elements. It has to fit in a wader pocket.
Simple right?
This Box is Unique

It’s all in the details
Wood fly boxes have two specific problems: moisture and durability. Make a wood box thin and elegant, and it warps or breaks. Make it durable by beefing up the walls, and the box can’t hold many flies at a given size.
The solution comes from a two pronged approach. Using fiberglass sandwiched between thin layers of hardwood solves warping and durability with very little material. The faces on the boxes are no more than 3/32” thick. Adding a metal frame enhances the rigidity and durability, while evoking the beauty of a fine English shotgun. Magnetic closure, high gloss waterproof varnish, and stainless steel hinges complete the ensemble.
Add it all up and you get a box unlike any other. It’s elegant and refined, but has the capacity and functionality of a modern box at the intersection of form and function.
